K-Mart to Screen for Triple A's
Recently, I have been very busy with work, and have not had much time to post. I came across something on Sonoworld ( www.sonoworld.com ) that is worthy of attention. It seems many K-marts around the country have begun screening patients in their pharmacy's for abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA). They have teamed up with a few good organizations including the SVU to provide this free service. No where in the information is there a reference to the qualifications of the health care providers being used to screen these patients. As a Registered Vascular Sonographer, I think it is important to point out to patients that Sonographers are medical professionals, and we specialize in ultrasound. Many states limit the use of ultrasound in the medical field to those who have demonstrated a proficiency by sitting for written boards, and passing the medical tests needed to gain a credential in medical ultrasound (RVT, or RVS) through either the ARDMS, or CCI. I am wondering if K-Mart is using registered vascular sonographers? Any input is welcome.
